The Farmers Market at Farmview Market is a can't-miss destination on Saturday mornings from early May through late September.

A truly local, open-air Farmers Market, featuring a unique variety of local and regional produce, eggs, dairy products, honey, prepared foods, locally roasted coffee, soaps, flowers, and artisan crafts is what you can expect. But the experience doesn't end with the amazing products! Stop by on an event day and enjoy live music, food trucks, a petting zoo and more. Bring the whole family out to enjoy the best local flavors and festivities at the Farmers Market at Farmview.

Farmers markets are a great way to support the growing farm to table movement. It's also a fun way to find some unique items you won't see in a normal grocery store. Try an Atlanta farmers market down the street or visit new ones across the state. In this section, we list some of the best Atlanta farmers markets in the city.

I visited the Buford Farmer's Market during a recent travel conference. This International Farmers Market has foods from pretty much any country you can imagine. We tasted around the world in a single afternoon - pastries from Germany, candies from Mexico, fruits from Asia. It's all here.

They also had unique gifts. I have a plan to return and get a bonsai tree for my living room. If you are throwing a kids party, this is a great place to find a huge piñata too. You can also take classes at the Buford Highway Farmer's Market. This is an indoor farmer's market that is open year round.

The DeKalb Farmer's Market is one of the most well-known in Atlanta. This market also has an International Farmer's Market flair with produce and food items available from around the world.

The DeKalb Farmer's Market started in 1977 and is still run by founder Robert Blazer and his family. This is an indoor farmer's market that is open year round.

The Decatur Farmer's Market is an outdoor community market that is held in the Pecan Grove of the First Baptist Church in Decatur.

There is a Winter Wednesday evening market that is open even during winter, and a Saturday market open spring through early fall. The Decatur Farmer's Market is part of the Community Farmer's Markets group.

The East Atlanta Village Farmer's Market is one of the oldest outdoor farmer's markets in Atlanta. In addition to locally grown food, you can also find homemade breads, prepared meals, and artisan goods like jewelry or soaps. They also have cooking demonstration, and an on-site Edible Learning Garden with education and children's activities.

This market is located across from the Midway Pub and is part of the Community Farmer's Markets and is held on Thursdays from mid-April through Fall.

The Grant Park Farmers Market has been voted Best Farmers Market in Creative Loafing and Atlanta Magazine. Weekly free celebrity chef demonstrations at market feature the top chefs in the south including Hugh Acheson, Kevin Gillespie, Steven Satterfield, Virginia Willis and many more.

Shoppers, foodies, bloggers, and critics all agree that the Grant Park Farmers Market is the place to be on Sunday mornings.

This outdoor farmer's market is located along the Atlanta Beltline, just outside of Ponce City Market.  Ponce City Farmers Market offers fresh fruits and veggies, artisan products, handmade crafts, goods for the home and body, and more from an average of 30 rotating vendors per week.

Throughout the season, the market will also feature special events, arts and crafts and visits from goats.

They encourage shoppers to access the market by walking or biking on the BeltLine or park at Ponce City Market. Free parking is available, and you can access "The Trestle" through Ponce City Market as well.  Parking on the third floor of Ponce City Market's parking deck (accessible via the ramp to the right of Pancake Social) is the most convenient access point to the farmer's market via the BeltLine Tressel.

There is complimentary free 30-minute parking in the lots in front of Mountain High Outfitters.

The Fresh MARTA Markets are part of the Community Farmer's Market group and take place at four MARTA stations, the West End, H.E. Holmes, College Park and Five Points stations.

Markets are held from 3-7pm in or right outside select MARTA stations.

The Brookhaven Farmer's Market is an outdoor farmer's market that is open April through November on Saturday from 9am - Noon. It's open rain or shine.

All the produce at the Morningside Farmers' Market must be certified organic. In addition to food, you can also find flowers and artisan crafts.

This is an outdoor farmer's market that is open year round on Saturday mornings. Check the website for a chef demonstration schedule.

Freedom Farmers Market is open year-round on Saturdays and is located at the Carter Presidential Library (stop in to tour this great museum too) and along the Freedom Bike Trail.

From March to December there is more than just locally grown food. They also have live music, a kid's tent, and local chefs.

The Peachtree Road Farmers Market is open March through December on Saturdays. You'll find it at The Cathedral of St. Philip on Peachtree Road.

I still remember the Heavenly pound cake I tasted here. It was several years ago and was THAT memorable. Truly Heavenly.

The Piedmont Park Conservancy's Green Market was voted one of the top five farmer's markets in Atlanta by Access Atlanta. Green Market encourages sustainable communities in the most basic way - by providing shoppers with direct access to local farmers and small businesses.

Saturdays from March through December. From April to November they also have chef demonstrations, live music, and kids activities.

The Municipal Market in Sweet Auburn is a historic indoor market open seven days a week throughout the year.

In addition to butcher meats, and fresh produce, the Sweet Auburn Market has popular food vendors like Earl of Sandwich and Tilapia Express.

Georgia Grown presents the Farmers Market at The Battery Atlanta!   Each date will have a new variety of Georgia Grown vendors represented, with a unique mix of products to choose from.

Visitors can park for free during these events in our Red, Purple or Green decks. The market runs 4pm - 7pm on select dates. See website for specific dates.

Held every Tuesday from 4 pm to 7 pm. through December, the Halcyon Farmers Market in Alpharetta brings together more than 40 local vendors, offering a variety of fresh produce, flowers, homemade jams, bread, and much more. The free event is held rain or shine in the event lot behind Cherry Street Brewpub and Land of A Thousand Hills.

Come to the Marietta Square Farmers Market on Saturday mornings at the Marietta Square year-round for an outdoor farmer's market from 9am-Noon.

You'll find fresh fruits and vegetables, and things like flowers, local honey, and herbal soaps too.

The Sandy Springs Farmers Market is held mid-April through November on Saturday mornings 8:30 am until 12:30 pm at City Springs in Sandy Springs.

There is live entertainment and games for the kids. The first two hours of parking in the parking deck are free!

Find farmers with fruits and vegetables, gardeners with fresh flowers and plants, and makers of all sorts of edible home goods from delicious desserts to local raw honey and homemade sauces and jellies at the Downtown Alpharetta Farmers Market.

The Downtown Alpharetta Farmers Market is open on Saturdays from April - November in the Alpharetta Town Green area at City Center in front of City Hall on North and South Broad Streets.

The Lilburn Farmers Market is open every Friday night from May until August. The market is on the campus of Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church.

In addition to vendors, there are free hayrides, music, kids' activities, a Little Free Library, and food trucks.

The Atlanta State Farmers Market in Forest Park is one of the largest of its kind in the world. It encompasses 150 acres and includes a garden center and stalls for produce. We come here every year to get our Christmas tree, and always end up getting a few other things too.

Since it is located right off I-75, this is also a great place to stop in on your way to or from someplace on I-75. This farmers market is open 24/7.

Monthly Market Days are held from April through December on the first Saturday of every month.

In addition to shopping for lots of local produce and artisan goods, you can enjoy music during Pickin' on the Square, when local musicians come for a jam session.

Visit the outdoor Peachtree City Market year-round on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9am-1pm.

Saturday's market brings approximately 60 vendors offering a variety of fresh produce, poultry, beef and pork, bread, sweet treats, and more. You'll also find plenty of great foodie gifts here, along with live music.

The market is held in the Aberdeen Village Shopping Center in Peachtree City and is open rain or shine.

The Serenbe Farmers Market is held on Saturdays from mid-March to October from 9am - 1pm on the Selborne Green.

Vendors vary weekly, but cover a broad swath of sustainable food and local crafts. Stay after the market and take a tour of the Serenbe Farm.

Visit beautiful downtown Columbus every Saturday morning for Market Days on Broadway to visit with more than 200 local vendors of locally grown foods and crafts.

Visitors can expect to find fresh and organic produce, home goods, jewelry, unique crafts, and delicious baked goods.

Farmview Market is a permanent fresh market with several sections -- a grocery that includes lots of locally grown items, a butcher, bakery, and farm-to-table quick service restaurant. (Three words for you - smoked.chicken.salad.)

In addition, from April - October there is a farmer's market, where all items in the market must be made by the sellers.

The number 1 crop in Georgia is peanuts and pecans! Cotton ranks a close second, followed by tobacco, soybeans, and corn.

The Buford Highway Farmers Market is the largest farmers market in the state of Georgia. Its building encompasses 100,000 square feet!

The largest producer-only farmers market in the United States is said to be in Madison, Wisconsin. The Dane County Farmers' Market only features items that are produced by the members behind the tables. No re-sale allowed!
