Taiwan's military has been put on alert after a Chinese aircraft carrier was detected heading toward the territory.
The Ministry of National Defense says three PLA ships sailed along the median line in the Taiwan Strait this afternoon including the 300-metre Shandong aircraft carrier.
Taiwanese Air Force jets and navy ships were deployed to monitor the situation.
