Destiny 2 Best Season Of The Deep Artifact Perks

Season of the Deep in Destiny 2 is a season very clearly themed around Arc, Strand, and Void. Many of the artifact perks provided show that by introducing some of the powerful and interesting buffs the game has seen since the subclass 3.0 changes. If there's an ideal time to play any of the above three subclasses, it would be now.

In terms of anti-champion mods and Origin Trait buffs, the artifact leaves a bit more to be desired. Some of the Origin Traits included, like Unsated Hunger, are a bit niche and don't make for particularly good perks to enhance. Luckily, in the way of subclass-related artifact perks, there's plenty to get stuck into in Destiny 2's season 21.

Some of the most powerful mods this season are actually quite simple in nature, as already seen in the Authorized Mods perks last season. This time, however, players have access to mod energy discounts for any armor mods that deal with Arc, Strand, Void, and melee.

These four perks are must-have picks up for players who value buildcrafting and the freedom it brings in Destiny 2. With these perks active, the energy cost of said mods is reduced to 1 energy, which allows players to pack even more punch into their seasonal builds.

Strand is at the forefront of seasonal perks in Season of the Deep, starting off with Improved Unraveling. This simple perk boosts the damage dealt by Unraveling effects, making it a must-have for most Strand builds.

At the time of writing this list, it's still unclear whether this will affect Unraveling Rounds on Strand weapons, but if it does, then this perk is even stronger than it appears on paper.

Void is also getting some love this season, and more specifically, Void Breaches. Unto The Breach is a perk that allows players to spawn a Void Breach whenever they kill an enemy affected by Void debuffs. Note that this only works when the player has their Void subclass equipped.

This perk will slot in beautifully with all Void subclasses, so there's no reason not to pick it up. Better yet, when paired with another Void Breach perk mentioned below, Protective Breach, players will have access to practically infinite Void overshield.

Arc is clearly one of the highlights of this season, with the Warlock Arc subclass getting a lot of love after being left in the dust for so long. Thunderous Retort is therefore a fantastic boost to the already buffed Chaos Reach and Stormtrance.

While players are low health or Amplified, their Supers receive a damage boost. And speaking of Warlocks, Getaway Artists will pair wonderfully with this perk, as players can pretty much consume their grenade at any time to become Amplified.

Speaking of Amplified, as one of the major buffs that players can receive from Arc, it's at the forefront of these seasonal perks. Amped Up, similarly to Protective Breach discussed below, grants players a bit of damage resistance whenever they have the Amplified buff.

Given that Arc subclasses tend to not have a lot of sustain by default, it's nice to have an option that's focused a bit more on being resilient and "healing", even if it doesn't quite contend with overshields or restoration.

Back to Strand matters, the Strand Soldier perk brings back Unraveling Rounds in the artifact, but with a condition: players must have Woven Mail applied to them. Considering how easy it is to acquire Woven Mail on all subclasses thanks to the Thread of Warding fragment, this perk is a no-brainer when it comes to must-haves.

Unraveling Rounds are the bread and butter of Strand along with Suspend, so players who plan on spending a lot of time on the Strand subclass this season shouldn't ignore this incredibly powerful perk.

As mentioned a couple of times earlier, Void Breaches will gain additional utility this season if players have the Protective Breach artifact perk unlocked. When they pick up a Void Breach, they will either receive a Void overshield or their existing overshield timer will be reset.

With this and Unto The Breach available this season, with how powerful Void is on all classes, it's looking like a very good season for Void in general, even without Volatile Flow as an artifact perk. For some extra sustain, this perk is ideal.

And if all that good talk about Void still wasn't enough, Supernova is a perk in the final column that looks highly promising. It also plays into Void Breaches, so having that Unto the Breach perk unlocked will do wonders for Supernova.

Whenever players pick up a Void Breach, their next Void damage blow on an enemy will spawn a weakening pulse. Given how good weaken is as a debuff against enemies, it's hard not to love how good this sounds already.

Back to Arc, Lightning Strikes Twice is a perk that is already somewhat familiar to players and makes a return this season. For any grenadier builds, this perk is amazing, as it boosts grenade recharge rate whenever players activate their grenade ability.

Better yet, if players score any Arc final blows while the effects of this perk are active, the increased recharge rate is extended. All in all, all Arc subclasses will massively benefit from this, particularly when paired with the powerful pulse grenade.

Finishers have always been a feature of Destiny 2 that really only benefit players at a higher difficulty. And now, thanks to the Squad Goals perk, finishers are going to be even more powerful in endgame content where players are focused on teamwork.

Squad Goals grants the subclass buff players have (Amplified, Devour, or Woven Mail) to all their nearby friends if they perform a finisher while that buff is active and while players have the equivalent subclass equipped. It will be extremely interesting to see it in use particularly in raids, dungeons, and even Nightfalls as the season progresses.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
