The Washington Commanders are accused of "tampering" with retired Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck.
Last month, ESPN reported that the franchise reached out to just about every potential starting quarterback in the world, including the retired Colts quarterback.
Colts owner Jim Irsay called out the Commanders for potentially tampering with Luck. While he's retired, he was under contract with Indianapolis and not able to negotiate with other teams.
According to the Washington Post, the Commanders are unlikely to face punishment for their Andrew Luck "tampering" allegations.
The report states that "there probably is 'not enough hard evidence' of impermissible contact."
Pro Football Talk had more, too.
"Here's the question: What was done to look for evidence, hard or otherwise? The Post continues to treat as dispositive its own report that someone from Luck's camp said the Commanders did not contact Luck, his father Oliver, or his agent. That denial hardly ends it; Luck, who has walked away from the game, surely has no interest in getting involved," he wrote.
Luck has been retired for several seasons. He's made it clear that he's not interested in making a comeback.
Still, that probably won't stop teams from trying at some point.
