The opening date for a much-anticipated Long Melford sweet shop and ice cream parlour has been revealed as owners have shared their excitement.
Ivy & Bond tearoom in Waterloo House, Hall Street, opened in January and owner Helen Clutterham, 45 of Glemsford, quickly sought to expand into the neighbouring property with big plans for a traditional sweet shop.
And now her dreams have come to fruition as Ivy & Bond announced the new shop, Clutterham and Daughters Ice Cream and Sweets, will open its doors to the public on Monday, May 29.
Posting to social media, they said: "Our aim is to provide Long Melford with a unique traditional old shop that serves not only the local community but also the visitors and tourists who visit our lovely village.
"We are very excited about this next part of our journey with Ivy & Bond and look forward to welcoming you on Bank Holiday Monday."
The shop will stock a selection of traditional sweets, chocolate, fudge and Suffolk Meadow ice cream which can be purchased in a cone or tub. They will also serve the Ivy & Bond 27, similar to a 99 with a flake.
In their statement, they said: "Our aim at first is to introduce a range of icecream flavours and then be guided what our customers like or suggest. We will therefore hope to change and introduce new flavours to you regularly.
"We will also be selling some local produce from Suffolk including chilli jam, chutney, fruit jams and curds. As time goes on we will add to our Suffolk range."
Clutterham and Daughters Ice Cream and Sweets will open next door to their Ivy & Bond tea room on Monday between 11am and 4pm. There will be a competition held on the day, along with samples of sweets and ice cream to try.
The shop will open every day of half term week 11am to 4pm, and then Thursday to Sunday 11am to 4pm until summer. During summer, opening hours will be increased.
