At the end of the previous season, Chiefs made a massive clear out, getting rid of some experienced players, some of which had not been able to lead Amakhosi to any silverware during their lengthy stays at the club. It is expected that they will also undergo a similar exodus that could see several players forced through the exit door.

A lot of the players that were released by Chiefs were over 30-years-old with the majority never winning a trophy while at the club. Besides the Bernard Parker, the likes of Daniel Cardoso, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Leonardo Castro and Daniel Akpeyi had never touched any silverware during their careers at the club.

After that, Chiefs invested in players who were either younger or in their prime years, like Ashley du Preez, Zitha Kwinika, George Matlou, Dillon Solomons and Yusuf Maart to name but a few. Now, even though the club has not officially announced the likes of Mdantsane and Mismango yet, it has been an open secret for a while now that the duo will be donning the colours of Amakhosi next season.

Now speaking to the media after the disappointing 1-0 loss to Cape Town City on Saturday, courtesy of a Mdantsane goal ironically, coach Arthur Zwane, without mentioning any name, confirmed that Chiefs have already wrapped up some deals for the new season.

"We have identified a few indviduals, and some we managed to get while some the team are still trying to make sure that they get them, But, again, it boils down to one thing, can they cope with the pressure of playing for a team of Kaizer Chiefs' calibre? And, look, it leaves one with thinking a lot." He said according to SABC Sport.

Zwane then revealed that Chiefs have learnt from the success and failures of the past season's player changes, while discussing the transfer criteria.

"It's a case of quality. If quality is available then we go [for it]. You know it's always been a difficult situation for the club, whenever we look for players and approach other teams, they make it difficult for us to get that player, Because obviously, the competition is also very stiff, so we just have to find a way." Zwane concluded.
