Romoney Crichlow has sent a fond farewell to the Terriers after news that he is to be released this summer once his current contract comes to an end - and Bradford City fans have made clear that they'd love to see him move to Valley Parade on a permanent basis.

The centre-back has been a popular figure while on loan at the League Two club, who are hoping to book their place in a Wembley play-off final by completing the job against Carlisle United in the semi-finals on Saturday afternoon. The Bantams hold a one-goal lead from the first leg, with Crichlow helping Mark Hughes' side keep a clean sheet.

Crichlow was one of a number of players whose release was announced on Friday afternoon, alongside fellow Huddersfield Town academy graduates Matty Daly and Ryan Schofield among others.

He wrote on Twitter: "6 years later I leave a better man. Thank you for everything #terriers .Grateful for every opportunity i've had over the years. Wishing the club all the best in the future, it's been a pleasure."

In among with well wishes from Town fans in response, several Bradford City supporters told Crichlow they hope to see him made the short move across West Yorkshire as a free agent this summer.

A composed left-footed ball-playing defender, Crichlow made six senior appearances for Town in 2020/21, scoring his only goal for the club in the FA Cup defeat to Plymouth Argyle in the January of that season.

The 23 year old won plaudits for his performances while on loan at Swindon Town in League Two the first half of the following season, but he found his playing time limited after being recalled and then sent up a division to League One for the second half of the campaign.

Crichlow has been a regular for Bradford City this season, helping them to finish sixth in League Two with one of the best defensive records in the division.
