With the weather starting to warm up, the prospect of cooling off with a Caribbean beach trip sounds more heavenly by the day. The cost of a plane ticket and resort fees there, though? Not so heavenly.
The good news, though, is that you don't need to go as far south as the Caribbean or even the Florida Keys for crystal waters and beautiful beaches. Travel agent @lesleyetp highlights a special North Florida spot that checks all these boxes!

Destin, FL is an amazing beachfront destination in and of itself. A coastal community in the Florida Panhandle (also affectionately known as the "Redneck Riveria"), Destin is renowned for its sugar-white beaches and gorgeous waters, which are often crystal clear. As someone who's made a few visits to Destin in my past, I can attest to the area's beauty firsthand.
Lesley wasn't just talking about Destin, though. She specifically highlighted Crab Island, which is... actually not an island. Not far off the shores of Destin, Crab Island is a now-submerged sandbar that's been eroded overtime by hurricanes and the generally tumultuous Gulf Coast weather. However, it's become a popular gathering spot for boaters as it's the perfect shallow spot to drop anchor.
The waters here are still gorgeous and crystal-clear, especially at high tide, but Crab Island also offers a bunch of fun floating vendors and activity boats, such as the ones shown in Lesley's video. Oh, and yes, in case you were wondering- alcohol is allowed out there. Mix up some mai-tais before you rent your pontoon boat and head out!
Really, if you're looking for a beach vacation without dropping Caribbean trip-level money, you can't really go wrong with Destin in general. But if you really want to cut loose while enjoying crystal-clear waters, then Crab Island in particular is one place you'll wanna check out!
