After the initial shock of being traded wore off, Christian McCaffrey adapted quickly to the San Francisco 49ers.
In 11 regular season games with the Niners, McCaffrey totaled over 1,200 yards of total offense and 10 touchdowns. Speaking with reporters at the annual Dwight Clark Legacy Series event last week, McCaffrey made it clear how he feels now about his current home.
"In hindsight, I firmly believe it's the best thing that ever happened to me," McCaffrey said, via Cam Inman of Bay Area News Group.
San Francisco and Carolina Panthers fans alike have been commenting on McCaffrey's assessment of life with the Niners.
"And this man is engaged to Olivia Culpo," said one person.
"Can't wait to revisit this when Darnold is his QB again," another person added.
"Best thing for the Panthers too. We would've ended up like the Vikings with Cook," a Carolina fan argued.
"I mean he endured the Matt Rhule era and left for a Super Bowl contender. I wouldn't be too upset," another Panthers fan said.
"CMC is a 49er. Still can't believe it. Might never process in my head as real," said one 49ers fan giddily.
McCaffrey rushed for 238 yards and one touchdown and added 61 yards and a touchdown on 12 receptions in the playoffs last year.
The Niners came up one game short of the Super Bowl, and are hoping to get over the hump in 2023.
