Replacements abound in the world of Disney, it would seem. Being an actor cast in a Disney franchise is certainly an accomplishment worth celebrating. However, when one is part of the Disney family, it brings with it a fair amount of scrutiny and a need to have a pristine image. Considering how careful the Walt Disney Company is about its own public image, it's even more careful about its collaborations and associations. For example, when Johnny Depp was going through his high-profile court case after the allegations of domestic abuse levied against him, he lost his contract with Disney. And recently, we reported that veteran actor Johnny Depp was being replaced in one of his most iconic roles by a younger, famous heartthrob.

Now, it appears another actor has suffered a similar fate.
Actor Dwayne Johnson might have also lost a Disney contract. Johnson played the demi-god Maui in the 2016 animated film Moana and played the skipper in the live-action movie Disney's Jungle Cruise. Some Disney Fanatics would also know that the actor was in the older Disney movies Race to Witch Mountain and The Game Plan.
However, the WWE star-turned-actor has recently been in the news for the lawsuit he's been named in by former wrestler Rhakha Khan, AKA Trenesha Briggers.

There have been rumors swirling that Dwayne Johnson could possibly replace Johnny Depp in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Especially after Depp was dropped for his scandal, Johnson was an obvious choice considering he was carving out a name for himself with Disney.
However, recently, Essentially Sports reported on a red-carpet conversation with Jerry Bruckheimer, the executive producer of Pirates of the Caribbean and it appears now that Depp's image is revived, Disney might want him back for the role. When asked about Depp potentially returning, Bruckheimer noted, "We'll see. I would love it. I would love to have him in the movie-that's all that I can tell you."

Whether because of the lawsuit Johnson is currently battling or perhaps because he may never have truly been intended for the role when Depp became available again, it's almost certain now that Dwayne Johnson will not be replacing Depp as the swash-buckling pirate.
