PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ - The National Weather Service says that conditions are present that increase the risk of wildfires in Passaic County through Wednesday evening.

Low relative humidity and gusty winds are expected; the forecast is for wind gusting up to 25 mph, and humidity below 30 percent.

"Despite the recent green-up, these conditions may allow for elevated fire spread if ignition occurs," the weather service said.

The weather service has not issued a "red flag warning" for Passaic County Wednesday, but there is a Level 2 Burn Restriction, meaning all fires in wooded areas are prohibited "unless in an elevated prepared fireplace, elevated charcoal grill or stove using electricity or a liquid or gas fuel."

Another wildfire broke out in the county over the weekend, and was fully contained.

The blaze in Pompton Lakes threatened five abandoned structures as it burned over the weekend, agency officials said. The forest fire service thanked local fire departments for their help in protecting the structures and containing the fire.
