MultiVersus Could Be Getting A Story Mode When It Relaunches

MultiVersus could be getting a story mode of some kind when it relaunches in 2024, alongside the possibility of an arcade mod, a challenge mode, and ranked mode seemingly being made permanent.

Ever since Warner Bros. and Player First Games controversially announced that MultiVersus would be delisted and taken offline to allow for a relaunch in 2024, it's been pretty easy to just forget about it and assume that we won't be hearing anymore until the end of the year. It seems that Warner Bros. has other plans, however, as it's recently sent out a survey gauging interest in various modes and features that could be coming to the game down the line.

As highlighted by Twitter user MVSDonkDonk, Warner Bros. has sent out the survey over the past few days. The survey begins by saying, "As you may or may not know, the company behind MultiVersus announced that the game is going offline while they continue to work on development for a future return. Below are some of the features/changes that may be included or improved upon in MultiVersus' third season or beyond".

The survey recipient is then asked to rank the potential features and changes in order of how much they'd want to see them implemented into the game. By far the biggest inclusion in the list is a story mode, something that's been heavily requested ever since MultiVersus was first announced.

It's also not the first time that we've seen a story mode being mentioned. Back in August, dataminers found references to a potential story mode in the game's credits, which had a section specifically highlighting those who had worked on the game's story and storyboards. Since the only bit of "story" we'd had at that point was the CG trailer, it seemed to be confirming that a story mode was planned to be in the game.

Beyond the story mode, the survey also mentions a few other interesting features that could be added to the game. Another new mode that's mentioned is "Challenge mode", which could really mean anything but likely hints at a mode similar to Mortal Kombat's Test Your Luck mode. Arcade mode and Ranked mode also get mentioned, despite already being in the game, but this likely hints at big (necessary) improvements to both.

The survey also mentions the possibility of character and arena rollouts happening every two weeks, which shows that MultiVersus will still be aiming for a live-service approach. If you ask me, it's probably not a good idea to suggest that's possible after how badly it just went for MultiVersus, but it's likely more of a guideline than anything else.
