Victorian MPs and councillors will shed light on corruption in the public sector in a first for the state.
The anti-corruption watchdog put out a call to bureaucrats on Tuesday to share their views as part of the 2023 Perceptions of Corruption Survey.
It the first time the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC) has asked MPs and councillors to share their views on corruption, with the polling to cover their knowledge of the issue, their perceptions about the extent of corruption and their attitudes towards reporting it.
"It is important to hear the views of Victoria's elected representatives so we can identify gaps in our knowledge and discover opportunities to address corruption risks and vulnerabilities in the public sector," IBAC executive prevention and communication director Linda Timothy said.
"We want everyone to understand what corruption is, what to look out for, how to report it, and feel confident that they will be listened to and protected if they speak to IBAC about suspected corruption."
The anonymised and voluntary survey, open until early next month, builds on IBAC's previous polls about corruption and will be performed by an independent research company.
A 2022 survey polled a total of 12,000 employees from government and Victoria Police, among other fields.
Dr Timothy urged MPs and councillors to share their views as part of this year's survey.
