Mama June is opening up about her past drug addiction and how it hurt her finances, as she now reveals that she is "back to penny pinching" after she previously, and regrettably, spent a whopping $1 million on drugs in just one year.

While speaking with the Daily Mail on Wednesday (May 10), Mama June, real name June Shannon, said when she looks back at her lowest point during her struggles with substance abuse, she now asks herself, "Girl, what the h*ll are you doing spending all that d*mn money?"
The 43-year-old reality TV star added, "I say that a lot to my husband [Justin Stroud]. I would be like, 'Man, why in the h*ll did I blow all that money?' I am always thinking about that. I think about a lot of things I could do with that money. My husband tells me all the time that I can't dwell on it."
Mama June continued to explain that oftentimes she finds herself hating herself for the things that she did when she was going through her darkest moments. She said, "I don't remember like a lot of that time frame. Just bits and pieces and stuff. But the biggest, stupidest thing I've done is spend that much money on drugs."

Mama June admitted that during her addiction, she regrettably spent up to $3,000 a day on drugs, including cocaine - which she claimed she mostly snorted until it damaged her vision. So from then on, she said she decided to switch things up and she began smoking crack cocaine.
However, Mama June proudly noted that she is now in a much better place with her health, and is way better at handling her money now. She said, "Now, I've gone back to being like penny pinching, and Justin tells me Ia money hoarder."
Mama June revealed she is currently over three years sober, and her health is returning to good standing after being hospitalized with severe headaches and dizziness in 2022.

At the time her doctors were highly concerned with her health and encouraged her to be admitted to have her condition checked out. After having her undergo several tests and scans in the months to come, doctors were left dumbfounded, and no one has been able to give her a solid diagnosis.
Mama June said, "We still don't have any answers. I'm still getting judgment from the doctors because when they look at me and I feel like I'm getting judged because of my prior issues. I hate that the doctors will look at someone who has been through something in their life, like an addiction, and they think that someone can't change."
She continued to explain, "I'm over three years straight and clean. But when I'm honest and tell people that, the doctor just looks at you like you've got some major disease and I don't. I just want the answers and I'm not getting them. I'm trying to get into to see the best doctors that I know back in Georgia, but it is taking some time."

Mama June also said to anyone betting on her downfall, don't waste your time. She scoffed, "If you're waiting on me to fail, baby. You better stop holding that breathe baby or else you gone die."
Mama June has gone through some serious trials and tribulations. In March 2019, she and her ex Geno Doak were arrested in Alabama for felony drug possession.
Then in October 2019, they both pleaded not guilty to crack cocaine possession, and eventually they went to rehab before separating. During these times, Mama June would sign over full custody of her youngest daughter, Alana (aka Honey Boo Boo) to her other daughter Lauryn Efird (aka Pumpkin) and her husband Joshua Efird - to whom she was ordered to pa $800 a month in child support.
