Bo Jackson wasn't in attendance for former teammate Frank Thomas' statue unveil last month. And according to the two-sport legend, it's because he's been suffering from an unusual medical condition.
Speaking on "McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning," the ex-Auburn Tiger revealed he's been battling chronic hiccups for nearly a year.
I wasn't there [at Thomas' ceremony] because of dealing with hiccups. I've had the hiccups since last July. I'm getting a medical procedure done the end of this week, I think, to try to remedy it. I've been busy sitting at the doctor's poking me, shining lights down my throat, probing me every way they can to find out why I've got these hiccups. That's the only reason I wasn't there.
The football world reacted to Jackson's unfortunate...
"Bo Jackson has had the hiccups for close to a year. Talk about a real-life nightmare," OutKick said.
"Bo Jackson says he tried a porcupine-based cure for a yearlong hiccups bout," SI reported.
"'I have done everything - scare me, hang upside down, drink water, smell the ass of a porcupine,' Jackson said, 'it doesn't work.' ... Smell the ass of a porcupine y'all. That's straight up Bessemer," tweeted Jeremy Gray.
Here's to hoping Jackson's doctors can find an answer soon.
