Peabody Fire Shuts Down Main Street Wednesday Morning

PEABODY, MA - A portion of Main Street in Peabody was closed and police warned of traffic disruptions getting to Danvers and Salem as crews battled a building fire in the area of Littles Lane on Wednesday morning.

Police said at about 8 a.m. that Main Street was closed from Foster to Washington Street and that commuters and residents should avoid the area of downtown.

"All traffic to Salem and Danvers will be disrupted," police said. "Plan accordingly."

Reports said that the fire was in an apartment building and that the residents were evacuated.
