A British man was found dead in his wife's arms after they slept through a carbon monoxide leak on holiday, it is believed.
Jaime Carsi, 40, was discovered on Saturday, while his wife Mary Somerville, 39, remains in intensive care in a 'serious condition'.
The couple, believed to be from Edinburgh, had gone on holiday to a rural property on the coastal stretch of Cala Mesquida in north-east Majorca.
Local media said they had only been married for 15 days, suggesting they may have been on honeymoon.
They were reportedly due to meet friends who called the emergency services when they failed to show up.
The investigation is still ongoing but local reports suggest the tragedy happened because of carbon monoxide leaking from a faulty gas-powered fridge.
Sources say an autopsy on Jaime concluded he died of carbon monoxide poisoning.
The couple's friend, Patti Montella, posted a tribute to Jaime, writing: 'Jaime Carsi came into my life and took up residence in my heart, so many years ago, in London.
'His smile and spirit are pure love. And when he married our precious Edinburgh girl, sweet Mary, it was a match made in heaven.
'You left us waaaay too soon my little one. What a prince you are, such a magnificent soul.'
Another friend added: 'Thank you so much for all the good memories and also being my partner in crime teaching Art of Living courses and running the meditation centre.'
