Amateur MMA fighter Shalie Lipp was killed in a multi-vehicle accident near Moorhead, MN on Sunday.

According to Minnesota police, Lipp was a passenger in a 2015 Chevy Malibu when the vehicle collided with another car on the Red River Bridge, which borders North Dakota.

Lipp was the only casualty in the crash and everyone else involved was uninjured. Upon investigation, Lipp was found to not be wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The 21-year-old Lipp was considered by many as one of the most promising female MMA prospects in the Midwest. She was scheduled to return to fighting on May 20th for a matchup with Natalie Gage at No Mercy 11.

During a recent interview with MyMMANews, 'No Mercy' promoter Jeremy Bjornberg gave his thoughts on Lipp's tragic passing.

"She had an amazing work ethic she had only been back a few days from a month of training in Thailand," Bjornberg said. "At 19 years old, she started fighting the top fighters in the Midwest. . She was someone everyone knew was going to go somewhere and end up in the UFC."

Lipp accumulated a 3-2 amateur MMA record with appearances in Compass Fight Series and OFC. She won her first two amateur fights before falling to Cheyanne Bowers in March 2022.

The crash involving Lipp is still under investigation. It's uncertain if police have determined whether or not alcohol or other substances were involved in the accident.
