The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and their fans need to start preparing for a tough 2023 season. The roster by itself isn't bad across the board, but having one of the worst head coach-quarterback combinations in the NFL is going to work against Todd Bowles and company from the jump.
The Bucs were flat-out bad last season, and a huge reason as to why was Bowles. Bowles' utter failures to adapt to the modern NFL and shift his philosophies to what actually works in the current iteration of the game lost plenty of games for Tampa last season.
Hyper-conservative play that focuses on the run and tries to minimize mistakes in the passing offense above all else is not the approach that successful teams take. This comes from Bowles, and this is why Bowles will likely lose his job during or at the end of the 2023 season.

Unless something dramatic changes at quarterback between now and then, the Bucs have a serious cap on how well the overall team can do. Assuming the team finishes near expected, Tampa will have one of the worst records in football, and that will come on the heels of one of the most disappointing seasons in franchise history.
How does Bowles survive that?
This isn't bad news for the Bucs. The team probably should've fired Bowles at the end of last season due to the very obvious fact that the head coach was a detriment in Tampa, and holding off just pushes back the inevitable.
Would you really want to pair a young, face of the franchise quarterback with a defensive head coach that is stuck in the 1990s offensively? Seems like a mistake to this writer.
One way or another, Todd Bowles likely needs to be out from his current position sooner rather than later. He may be a great defensive coordinator, but the Buccaneers are not going to be in a position to compete for as long as he is their leader.
