SEA Games 2023: Bryce Chong earns Singapore's first medal

SINGAPORE - Triathlete Bryce Chong earned the first medal for Singapore at the 2023 SEA Games on Saturday morning (6 May), as he came in third in the men's individual aquathlon event.

The 26-year-old clocked 15min 39sec to clinch the bronze medal amid a 14-man field at the Kep Town Beach in southern Cambodia in the event, which consists of a 500m swim and a 2.5km run.

The gold medal went to Indonesia's Rashif Amila Yaqin, who won in 14:28, while the Philippines' Andrew Kim Abay Remolino took the silver after clocking 15:07.

Another Singaporean, Luke Chua, came in fourth in 16:01 in the same event.

In the women's individual aquathlon, Singapore athletes Kathlyn Yeo and Herline Yu came in sixth and 10th out of 14 athletes. Yeo clocked 18:17, while Yu finished the race in 18:57.
