When shooting up vampires in Redfall, gamers will no doubt encounter a spray-painted butterfly on the side of a house or a butterfly enclosure. Sometimes the icon of a house on a map will have a butterfly on it. In a game about fighting vampiric forces, this symbol seems to be very out of place.

There are two answers about the butterflies in Redfall to give. One is about their symbolic meaning. The Hollow Man is obsessed with them and they inspire his work. The second answer has a practical in-game effect that gamers will want to note; it can even improve their character's gear.

About halfway through the chapter mission list, gamers will find that the Hollow Man did more than just theorize about this transformation. He experimented on a poor child, Amelia, as well as himself, becoming the monster that players combat for the first half of the title.
For gamers, locations with a butterfly symbol on them denote that either the Hollow Man himself or his scientists used the location to experiment. While players might break into homes hoping for some loot or experience to get to the maximum level, they'll find these and more in butterfly-adorned homes.
The interiors of these houses have notes that reveal the doctor's monstrous experiments. Additionally, they often have loot and scientific gear to help players afford more guns and gear. Occasionally, they'll have lockboxes with experimental and effective legendary weapons. If players intend to sidetrack at all in the game, these houses are a great place to start.
