Elden Ring: How To Get To Palace Approach Ledge Road

The Palace Approach Ledge Road in Elden Ring's Mohgwyn Palace is a place players want to get to for a few reasons. Not only is it one of the most convenient routes through which players can reach Mohgwyn Palace for the first time, but it's also home to one of the most lucrative Rune farming locations in Elden Ring.

Mohgwyn Palace is first seen from the underground Siofra River - the blood-red glow coming from the Parthenon-like structure nestled in the stars above is hard to miss. There are two ways to reach the Palace Approach Ledge Road Site of Grace, but don't waste time in Siofra looking for a way up.

Updated May 4, 2023 by Erik Petrovich: In Elden Ring the Palace Approach Ledge Road is one of the most sought-after locations for players of all levels for two reasons. It's one of the best ways to get to Mohgwyn Palace, and there are two of Elden Ring's best rune farming locations nearby. To get here, the Tarnished must either complete Varre's questline or reach the Consecrated Snowfield where a teleporter will bring them to the Dynasty's seat of power. Whichever method one chooses, Mohg isn't a boss to be challenged early, and the rest of Mohgwyn Palace is a deathtrap for low-level players. But getting to the Palace Approach Ledge Road for its rune farming locations is worth the risk.

The Palace Approach Ledge Road is famously home to two of the best rune farming locations in Elden Ring: the crow, and the field of Albinaurics. They are both quite literally right next to the Palace Approach Ledge Road Site of Grace, which lets players reset enemies and farm runes incredibly efficiently.

From the Grace, look over the ridge and aim a bow at the Monstrous Crow that roams the lake of blood below. After one hit, it will charge the player and fall off the ledge, netting an easy 11,000 runes. To farm the Albinaurics, use a wide AoE attack like the Sacred Relic Sword's Ash of War to kill swathes of these guys for tens of thousands of runes each run.

Aside from rune farming Palace Approach Ledge Road is also an entry point into Mohgwyn Palace. Though Mohg, the Lord of Blood is an optional boss, it's not an area to be missed. If players choose not to complete Varre's questline, this serves as an alternate entry to the Mohgwyn Dynasty's seat of power.

There are two methods when considering how to get to Palace Approach Ledge Road. The first involves completing White Mask Varre's questline, which begins at the start of the game. The other is by taking a teleporter towards the end of the game in the Consecrated Snowfield.

Varre's questline, which can be completed as early as Liurnia, pops players right outside the Palace, which is extremely convenient when ready to face the Lord of Blood. The Snowfield teleporter places players near the Palace Approach Ledge Road rune farm, which can be handy for sneaking in a few late-game level-ups.

White-Faced Varre is the first NPC players come across when starting up Elden Ring. After exhausting his dialogue at Limgrave's first Site of Lost Grace, head to the Rose Church in Liurnia of the Lakes, just southwest of Raya Lucaria. After getting a Great Rune and meeting the Two Fingers for the first time, Varre will ask the Tarnished what their impression was - say "they didn't seem right".

He will then give some Festering Bloody Fingers to invade other players. Complete three invasions and return to Varre for the Lord of Blood's Favor which must be soaked in the blood of a maiden.

The closest dead maiden is in the Church of Inhibition just past the Frenzied Flame Village in Liurnia, but players can also kill Hyetta or take a teleporter at the Four Belfies to find a dead maiden at the start of the game.

Return to Varre to get the Pureblood Knight's Medal, which when used will teleport the player to the foot of Mohgwyn Palace itself. Touch the Grace here and sprint north through the small forest and past a horde of red Albinaurics to reach the Palace Approach Ledge Road on the other side of the Mohgwyn Palace zone.

The second route doesn't require players to become a Bloody Finger, though it can take much longer to complete. First, the Tarnished will need to access the Consecrated Snowfield. To do this, get the first half of the Secret Haligtree Medallion from Albus in Liurnia's southeast Albinauric Village. Then, head to Leyndell through either the Dectus Lift or the secret pathway to the left of the Dectus Lift.

Melina will give the player the Rold Medallion after beating Morgott, which can be used at the Grand Lift of Rold to reach the Mountaintops of Giants. In the deep north of this zone is Castle Sol, where players can find the second half of the Secret Haligtree Medallion.

Go back to the Grand Lift of Rold and hoist the Secret Medallion to be brought to the Consecrated Snowfield. Mount on Torrent and head to the south of the zone, where the teleporter that leads directly to the Palace Approach Ledge Road can be found. Look by a cliff to the left of the Yelough Anix Ruins, its location will be guarded by a Sanguine Noble.

Elden Ring is available now for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S.
