Minnesota Vikings players are impressed at the progress shown by S Lewis Cine as he recovers from a significant leg injury.
At this time last year the Minnesota Vikings were hoping first-round pick Lewis Cine would be able to provide an instant impact at the safety position. Unfortunately, a significant leg injury prevented Cine from living up to his billing as a rookie.
Fast forward one year later and the Vikings' expectations have not changed. Cine's rookie campaign was cut short due to a broken league he suffered in Week 4. For a player that is reliant on his fast-twitch abilities and lateral quickness, there were legitimate concerns regarding his recovery process.

Voluntary workouts are now underway for the Vikings and some of Cine's teammates are amazed at his progress. According to Alex Ausmus of KSTP Sports, Cine's defensive teammates say that his recovery is going so well they've forgotten he was ever injured in the first place.
If Cine continues to shine in the team's offseason programs, he could carve his way into a significant role in the backend of Brian Flores' defense. Starters Harrison Smith and Camryn Bynum figure to be locked in at their positions, but Smith's age will require a talented depth piece who is ready to contribute.
If Cine can continue to stack good days and eventually return to form, the Vikings should feel extremely confident at the safety position.
