Michael Palin (79) has lost his wife. The actor known, amongst other things, as one of the members of the world-famous comedy troupe Monty Python says goodbye on his homepage with touching words.
His beloved wife passed away peacefully, early Tuesday morning, Palin explained. In addition, he published a photo on which both laugh happily in the direction of the camera. Helen had already had to live with chronic pain, for several years, and later she was also diagnosed with kidney failure.
According to the report the two met, on the coast of the county of Suffolk, many decades ago - during a summer vacation. Both were only 16 years old at the time. A few years later, in his early twenties, the couple married. Just two and a half weeks ago the two had celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.
The actor calls the death of his wife Helen an "indescribable loss" for him, their three children Rachel, William and Thomas, and the couple's four grandchildren. She had been the rock in Palin's life. Helen had not only shaped his decisions with her "calm, wise judgment," her practicality and humor had also been at the core of the relationship.
