After months of speculation, it appears that the Kansas City Chiefs have come to a decision on running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire.

The Chiefs will not pick up Edwards-Helaire's fifth-year option. He will be under contract for one more season before becoming a free agent after the 2023 campaign.

Over the course of the last season and into the playoffs, Edwards-Helaire had fallen out of favor with an offense that didn't accentuate his skill set.

To make matters worse, the Chiefs drafted Isiah Pacheco in the seventh round last year, and he made an immediate impact during Kansas City's run to the Super Bowl.

The NFL world is reacting to the decision involving Edwards-Helaire.

"He just doesn't have the vision to succeed in the Chiefs offense," one fan said.

"Let's trade him and get something for him," another fan suggested.

"Not overly surprising," another fan added. "Tbh, I hope he has himself a good season and gets paid elsewhere!"

"Figured as much. Injury and not living up to lofty expectations," said one fan. "Still more likely than not the RB2 to start the year and will be involved. Hope he can stay healthy."

Edwards-Helaire was a member of two Super Bowl-winning teams in Kansas City, but barring an unforeseen improvement in his play or production, they're content with letting him leave after this season ends.
