As the stars turned out in force for 2023's Met Gala in New York - many wearing wedding dresses - two chose the glitzy event to announce their pregnancies.
Tennis star Serena Williams, 41, debuted her baby bump on the cream carpet, telling Vogue magazine: "There's three of us here. I'm good, I'm really good now. I can breathe, I can stop, I'm not hiding but. yeah."
The seven time Wimbledon champion, who last year revealed that Prince Harry helped with her decision to retire from tennis, wore a monochromatic Gucci outfit with Art Deco-inspired detailing on the skirt, with multiple strings of pearls around her neck and a layered pearl headband. Her husband Alexis Ohanian, 40, sported a classic black tuxedo.
Serena and Alex, who got married back in November 2017 are already parents to five year old daughter, Olympia.
US supermodel Karlie Kloss also announced she was expecting at the event, this year a tribute to the late fashoin designer Karl Lagerfeld, who died in February 2019 aged 85.
The supermodel, best known for her work with US lingerie brand Victoria's Secret, rocked a Loewe outfit designed by Northern Irish fashion designer Jonathan Anderson, with her black gown featuring Karl Lagerfeld's signature strings of pearls, with a trompe-l'oeil design giving a modern, surrealist edge.
She told Vogue: "I'm so happy, this is the first time I'm sharing my news, so it's very special. I was pregnant last time during the pandemic so I didn't leave my sweatpants.
And she continued: "So this is the first time I'm on a red carpet pregnant and it's a super special moment, also kind of vulnerable - so I don't know how to style a belly - I can't imagine a more special moment."
Meanwhile pregnant Rihanna arrived several hours late to the cream carpet wearing an elaborate white Valentino wedding dress. Her white top was embellished with fabric camellias. She was accompanied by her beau, rapper A$AP Rocky in a red tartan kilt with distressed jeans, a black suit jacket and a skinny tie.
The megastar's look paid homage to the 'Chanel brides' who often closed out Lagerfeld's shows when he led the French fashion house.
Rihanna's baby bump was covered up on this occasion, unlike last week when she showed off her savvy sense of maternity style stepping on a shopping trip in New York in a fur coat with her baby bump on full display.
The 35 year old is expecting her second child later this year after a bombshell revelation that she was pregnant once again as she performed onstage during the 2023 Super Bowl in February.
Rihanna is already mum to an 11 month old son - who she's yet to publicly name - that she shares with A$AP Rocky, 34.
