The Ohio State Buckeyes added two commitments from the transfer portal this weekend, adding Notre Dame Fighting Irish transfer cornerback Lorenzo Styles Jr. as well as San Diego State Aztecs offensive tackle Josh Simmons. They're big additions that will help the team, but Ohio State faces one major problem: they're over the scholarship limit.

With the additions of Styles and Simmons, Ohio State currently has 88 scholarship players on the roster. Unfortunately for the Buckeyes, that's three scholarships over the NCAA's limit of 85 scholarship players. The Buckeyes have until the beginning of fall camp to get down to 85 scholarships - so all offseason - but Ohio State faces another problem: the transfer portal is closed to undergraduates as of Sunday night.

It's a pretty brutal situation for the Buckeyes, and the college football world had plenty to say about it on Twitter.

With the transfer portal officially closed, there are a limited number of ways for Ohio State to get down to that 85 scholarship limit. Graduate transfers can still enter the portal, but the Buckeyes do not have all that many players on the roster on track to graduate before the start of the season. Players could also retire from football or simply leave the team.

It will certainly be interesting to see how the Buckeyes get to 85 scholarships by the fall.
