A cooking expert has gone viral after sharing a game-changing hack that will make dinner prep a breeze.

California-based content creator Jenn frequently shares recipe and kitchen tips on her TikTok account to more than 142,000 followers.

In a recent video, that has so far amassed 9.4 million views, she revealed that people have been using potato peelers wrong their entire lives.

She said that although the blade of a potato peeler may appear to be unnecessarily wobbly, it was actually designed that way to help speed the process of peeling spuds - and her tips did not stop there.

In the clip, Jenn demonstrated how the loose blade swivels back and forth, meaning users can move the utensil up and down continuously.

So, instead of swiping the peeler one way, lifting it, then swiping it another way, you can simply peel in both directions.

'Did you know the reason why potato peelers swivel back and forth is so that you can not only go down but forward when you're peeling so that you can peel the entire thing super fast?' the kitchen hack expert said.

'Without having to actually lift up the peeler off of the vegetable.'

But Jenn's top tips did not stop there.

In a follow-up video, she also revealed that the pointy part of the peeler is actually made to help remove 'potato eyes' - which are the start of sprouts from the skin.

'Did you know that the pointy end of your peeler is actually designed to remove potato eyes.

'It's also great for hulling stems off of strawberries,' she explained.

And social media users lapped up the new information before rushing to the comments section to gush over the life-changing tips.

One user wrote: 'This just changed my whole life.'

'Oh my god this is the best thing ever! I never thought to try! Thank you so much!' another added.

'This is why we need cooking classes back in high school! How am I just finding this out at 26,' a third person said.

'Seriously questioning everything I do in life right now,' someone else wrote.

One commenter said: 'I always thought mine was just broken.'

'Okay wow... I never would have known that. Thank you,' another added.
