Coronation Street fans were left frustrated on Monday evening as they tuned into ITV for their soap fix, to find the news coverage of the Queen had overrun.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II died peacefully on Thursday September 8 at the age of 96, after an incredible 70 year reign.

ITV were covered the Queen's children standing vigil by her coffin in Edinburgh, but the coverage continued past 8pm as fans had expected Corrie to have started.

Taking to Twitter, one wrote: "They need to stop giving us false hope that #Corrie is on - they knew beforehand that there was going to be a vigil tonight for the Queen."

A second tweeted: "Where on earth is #Corrie? Is it not on this week at all?" as a third wrote: "Oh for goodness sake!! Put corrie on."

The Corrie announcer finally admitted the programme was "later than billed" as it kicked off at 8.10pm.

This comes after ITV confirmed their schedule for Tuesday [September 13] amid the ongoing period of mourning for Queen Elizabeth II.

Following the death of Britain's longest reigning monarch last week, popular daytime TV shows like Lorraine and Loose Women were pulled from ITV's schedule.

Although This Morning with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield aired as usual on Monday morning, Loose Women was shelved once again, as ITV - alongside other broadcasters - continued to focus on the death of the Queen and show special news segments remembering the late monarch.

Lorraine was also dropped from ITV's line-up, with Good Morning Britain airing for four hours instead, with presenters Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard leading an extended broadcast of the weekday show in the wake of the Queen's death last week.

It's now been confirmed that GMB will run from 6am until 9am as usual, presented by Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard, and that Lorraine will return at her usual slot of 9am.

This Morning will be on air at 10am until midday, presented by Phillip and Holly, but Loose Women fans won't get an episode on Tuesday as there will be an extended ITV News Special instead.

This will cover The King's Tour - Northern Ireland from noon, the Lunchtime News at 1.30pm and Queen Elizabeth II - Return To The Palace at 4pm.

Soap fans will be pleased to hear that Emmerdale will air at a later time of 8:05pm on Tuesday evening.

An hour later at 9:05pm, ITV will broadcast Charles, The Monarch and the Man.

ITV News at Ten will be broadcast at 10pm with Our Queen, The People's Stories at 11pm.

In this programme, people from all walks of life reflects on meeting the Queen and share how those special moments affected their lives. This programme is narrated by Nicola Walker.
