Arsenal have spent a significant amount of money on new players over recent years.
One player that the north London club splashed the cash on that we feel has been worth every penny is Martin Odegaard.
The Gunners initially joined Mikel Arteta's side on loan from Real Madrid during the 2021 January transfer window.
In 20 appearances across the Premier League and Europa League throughout the second half of the 2020/21 season, the Norwegian scored two goals and supplied two assists.
Following that loan spell, Arsenal secured the midfielder on a permanent deal worth a total fee of £34m.
Arteta was full of praise for the player back in December 2021 when he had this to say about him.
He said: "The ceiling for him, I don't know where it is, with the talent that he has, the desire that he has, how much he wants to always improve and get better. We've got a tremendous player there.
"He is a natural leader. If you look for the perfect professional, he wouldn't be very far from that."
In 36 league appearances last season, Odegaard scored seven goals and delivered four assists, showcasing his evolution in the top-flight with the Gunners.
Having now been named as the club captain, the 23-year-old has started his latest campaign in hot form by not only scoring three goals in six league games but also by making more progressive passes (38) than any of his teammates, as well as having the joint-highest number of passes into the final third of the pitch (22).
In addition to that, the midfielder's overall performances have earned him an impressive early season rating of 7.38/10, making him the third-highest rated player at the club according to WhoScored.
Taking all of that into account, it's safe to say that Arsenal absolutely made the right decision to secure a permanent deal for Odegaard, as they are certainly reaping the rewards from him on the pitch.
