Volusia Sheriff's Office share a social video to their Facebook page showing Cleveland Rahymes Jr., 42 running from a police officer.

A video of a Florida sheriff's deputy chasing a suspect down a street has gone viral on social media.

The video shared by TikTok user slaydivasjnj shows Volusia County Sheriff's Office (VCSO) Deputy Caleb Jones chasing after Cleveland Rahymes on Labor Day.

The clip captioned "when you think you left the hood" saw Jones running behind Rahymes moments after he stopped the suspect.

Since being shared online, the clip has been viewed more than 5 million times and has attracted 770,600 likes.

VCSO later shared an extended video of the chase that showed Jones chasing Rahymes until he carried out the arrest a little further down the street.

A sheriff's office spokesperson said in a Wednesday Facebook update that Rayhmes was arrested and faces multiple charges including trafficking in methamphetamine, trafficking in cocaine, fleeing or attempting to elude, resisting an officer without violence, and driving while license suspended or revoked.

Rayhmes is being held on a $510,500 bond, according to authorities.

Deputy Jones later shared his thoughts on being a viral hit and praised other law enforcement officers.

"I received several messages in the morning time saying 'is this you?' And I immediately recognized it as me and the gentleman running down the middle of the road," he said.

"I did not have any idea it would blow up to what it has. I'm truly shocked it has done this, 'cause there are guys that do way more than I do each and every day and they don't get any of the recognition and, it's just funny."

While Jones managed to arrest Rayhmes in the end, many people online poked fun of the situation as well as the deputy's running.

One said: "The cop has two more strides left in him and he done. He gone need backup to pick him up on the corner."

Another posted: "Why did I think it was two people racing."

A third commented: "Whew, the cop's gas is running out."

Jones did admit that he was starting to feel a bit winded while he was running after the suspect and said someone with a skateboard helped him make the arrest.

Newsweek has contacted VCSO for comment.

There have been numerous cases where videos of police have become viral hits.

Earlier this year, footage appearing to show a police car peeling out of a Florida parking lot at high speed was shared on TikTok and viewed more than 224,000 times.

The clip was later submitted to internal affairs at Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Also in Florida earlier this year, a man was caught after fleeing from officers on a lawnmower, a scene that had happened before in the Sunshine State.
