EastEnders bride to be Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) is in for a huge shock in tonight's episode when Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) returns, just as she is preparing to marry Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden).
The wedding episodes will kick off this week, at a later time of 8:30pm on Monday September 12, with schedules changed amid the ongoing coverage of Queen Elizabeth II's death and the accession of King Charles III.
It's a big week for the show, with Alfie's much publicised return throwing the big day into chaos.
Kat is excitedly preparing for the ceremony, dressed in white and even treated to a comeback from nan Big Mo (Laila Morse).
But her face is a picture when Alfie knocks at the door, having been summoned by their sons Bert and Ernie.
Having heard of Kat's plans to marry Phil, Alfie is on a mission to win back his ex-wife; but will he be successful?
'20 years later all the things that have happened between Kat and Alfie, there's still a spark there,' Shane Richie declared to Metro.co.uk recently.
'So now Alfie's become Phil Mitchell's nemesis and there's some wonderful scripts where Alfie is calling Phil to his face Mr Potato Head or Gru from the Minions, and the only reason Alfie gets away with it is because he knows Kat's standing there and Kat won't let anything happen to him!
'Alfie's still burning the candle for Kat and he's trying to convince Kat that she feels the same. I'm playing storylines at the moment where you go, will they?'
Scenes this week will see Kat confront Alfie when he is on a boat and it's clear it's part of another attempt to get her to ditch the wedding.

But, of course, disaster strikes!
Meanwhile, might Phil also get cold feet? Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) has declared her intention to ensure the big day doesn't go ahead.
With her feelings for Phil still strong, can Sharon convince Phil that they belong together?
