Undertale creator Toby Fox teased "something specil" planned for Deltarune's Chapter 2 release anniversary.
In a tweet posted on Sept. 5, Fox revealed that he wouldn't release any chapters of Deltarune this year. However, that wasn't the only news he shared in his tweet. Fox went on to say that "as usual," he has "something specil" planned for the anniversary of Undertale/Deltarune Chapter 2. Chapter 2 came out on Sept. 17, 2021, so fans won't have to wait long to find out what the surprise is.

At first glance, Fox's tweet looks like it contains a typo of "special." However, the spelling is seemingly a reference to the game's character Spamton, who had special merchandise released in collaboration with Fangamer called the Spamton SPECIL Fun Pack.
Deltarune is a role-playing video game developed by Toby Fox. The player controls Kris, a teenage human destined to save the world with her motley crew of companions. The game's name pays homage to the Delta Rune, an emblem representing the Kingdom of Monsters from the game Undertale. Deltarune is playable on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, and macOS. Initially released on Oct. 31, 2018, the game's second chapter came out on Sept. 17, 2021.

Fox previously revealed that despite featuring characters and elements from Undertale, Deltarune isn't a sequel. It does not take place in the world of Undertale. Undertale is the predecessor to Deltarune, released for Microsoft Windows and macOS on Sept. 15, 2015. Undertale tells the story of two races that ruled over the earth: the Humans and the Monsters. After war broke out between the two races, humans ultimately became the victors. Magicians confined monsters to the Underground with an imperfect magic barrier. Many years later, in the year 201X, a human child climbs Mount Ebott, a mysterious mountain from which those who climb it never return. The child discovers a large hole and falls in, where Undertale's gameplay begins. Players start their adventure in the Ruins and meet Flowey, a sadistic flower who wants to kill you for fun. You will then meet Toriel, who teaches you how to solve puzzles and resolve conflicts in the Underground. Other characters you'll meet in the game are the ever-popular Sans, who recently won Twitter's "Tumblr Sexyman" contest against Mob Psycho 100's Reigan Arataka, his brother Papyrus and a slew of other NPCs, including Annoying Dog and River Person.
The anniversary of Deltarune's Chapter 2 release is coming up on Sept. 17, and so is Toby Fox's "specil" surprise.
