Located just outside of Dahlonega in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Cavender Creek Vineyards is a small farm and North Georgia winery that produces delicious wines.

The winery is known for its drinks, Southern hospitality and, surprisingly enough, donkeys! In 2008, original owners Raymond & Donna Castleberry bought a Sicilian donkey and named him Hotie.

Sadly, Hotie has since passed away. But in 2018 a baby donkey named Elliot was brought to the vineyards. So if you make a visit, be sure to say hello!

Some of the vineyard's most popular wines include Petit Manseng, Cabernet Fran, Cabernet Sauvignon, and several Norton blends (including Blackjack and fan favorite Donkey Hotie).

They also keep varietals like Viognier, Sauvignon Blan, Chenin Blanc, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Zinfandel, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Franc on the menu.

While there are no official tours offered here, you're welcome to explore the grounds and take in the beautiful scenery of the Cavender Creek property.

This Dahlonega winery is also very kid-friendly, with a playground and a wide-open lawn for children to run around and play in.

The tasting room is open seven days a week. Wine tastings are offered as well as wine by the glass and bottle.

They've also got all sorts of other drinks, including wine slushies, sangrias, cocktails, mocktails, craft beer, and soft drinks.

Reservations are required for groups of six or more, so that everyone is guaranteed a seat when you arrive.
