10 Things From Avengers: Endgame That Upset Fans On Rewatch

It's been over 3 years since Marvel's biggest movie release to date, Avengers: Endgame. After the announcement at this year's Comic-Con about the future of the MCU, it's clear most characters are still coming to terms with a world post-Thanos.

Fans have had the opportunity to rewatch Endgame since its original release, and many have found plot holes or other annoying and upsetting things in the movie since its cinematic release.

Bruce Banner spent most of the movie in Hulk form, which confused many long-time fans. He had always previously struggled to move between Bruce Banner and The Hulk form, this being explored in Thor: Ragnarok in detail.

However, by Endgame, he seemingly has it under control. This is explained in a quick, throw-away scene that doesn't go into much detail at all about how Bruce was able to achieve something he had spent years, and movies, struggling with.

Thanos' powers and strength were always a bit questionable. When he wielded the Infinity Stones, he was able to wipe out half the population and seemed unstoppable. On the first watch, there was so much going on that fans didn't really focus on Thanos and his powers too much.

On rewatches, though, they've noticed the slight confusion surrounding what he can actually do. Certain Avengers seemed to have no issue fighting him, and the likes of Thor and Wanda struggled less compared to their human counterparts. It seems like he should have been able to just stand back and make everyone disappear if he wanted to. It's one of the areas of writing that were lacking, given the multiple storylines that were happening at once in the movie.

Marvel's struggled in recent years with their CGI and visual effects. This was most felt by fans in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Although Avengers: Endgame CGI is that bad, it's still something that is noticeably worse during rewatches

The main fight scene between Thanos and the rest of the Avengers is mostly CGI, and while it looked good when the movie was released back in 2019, the past few years have aged the special effects.

Captain America had never uttered the words "Avengers Assemble" until Avengers: Endgame. In the post-credit scene of Avengers: Age Of Ultron, he is about to say those two words before the scene ends.

Many felt that Captain America didn't really need to say those words, and upon reflection, most have agreed that it cheapens the sincerity of the scene. Especially given where in the movie he says this, he says this right after everyone returns through the portals. There was already so much going on at this point, and his utterance ruined the excitement in the moment.

The entirety of this movie is based around the time travel concept, and it upsets fans that this wasn't thought out more clearly. There are several loopholes in this time travel theory, especially upon rewatches.

Fans have found issues with several things, including the ease at which time travel was achieved and how the Avengers somehow managed to not mess up the timeline. Time travel is always a tricky concept to tackle, and Marvel missed the mark with Endgame.

Thor's character in Avengers: Endgame is one of the most debated character arcs in the MCU. It's generally agreed upon that his character missed the mark and did a disservice to his character as a whole.

Thor was reduced to a fat, funny friend, and his trauma was often made a joke. It was particularly upsetting for fans who have been following Thor in the MCU for years. Many fans found the attempted humor awkward and unfunny, and his character was a shadow of the God Of Thunder that he was previously known as.

Another highly debated character arc is Natasha Romanoff. Natasha spent years trying to make up for her wrongdoings and past crimes, only to die, seemingly unnecessarily, for the Soul Stone. While the scene was successful in pulling at fans' heartstrings, given the time travel that appears, her death was wasted in the grand scheme of things.

Natasha's solo film, Black Widow, also made fans even more upset upon rewatch. Her character was finally given depth and growth in her solo film, only for her to be dead in the current timeline.

Marvel has some incredible female superheroes, but the battle scene in Endgame was awkward at best. Fans have pointed out that it would have honored these great characters much more to let them shine and show their capabilities than slowly walking together in a group.

When rewatching the movie, the scene is almost jarring compared to the pace of the rest of the battle. It doesn't fit the vibe of the movie, it doesn't quite make sense for them to all suddenly appear together, and it doesn't really do the characters justice.

Perhaps the biggest upset of all was Steve Roger's ending. Steve uses time travel one final time to go back to the 1940s and live out his life with his first love, Peggy Carter.

Fans have argued that this makes no sense for Steve's character arc at all. Steve has spent the majority of his time in the MCU adjusting to his new life and finding peace with the modern world. He has also spent a considerable amount of time looking out for his best friend, Bucky Barnes, who he abandoned without a second thought. It doesn't make sense and ruins most of the previous movies, as it renders them basically impossible in the current timeline.

If fans want to rewatch Endgame, they have to set aside a considerable amount of time to do so. The movie's run time comes in at just over 3 hours, which is staggeringly longer than most MCU films which are usually around 2 hours.

This makes it incredibly hard to rewatch, as it becomes almost a chore to get through the entire thing in one sitting. The movie's length is felt by fans more since its release, and it's something that makes it skippable for many fans.
