Turkey's Defense Ministry announced Saturday that its agents have "neutralized" two members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), a Kurdish guerrilla group.

"Two PKK terrorists were neutralized in the region of Operation Claw-Lock, which continues successfully in northern Iraq. We are determined and resolute to eradicate terrorism at its source," the defense portfolio said in a statement posted on its Twitter account.

Thus, the Ministry, headed by Mevlut Cavusoglu, has assured that "neither northern Iraq nor Syria are safe for terrorists!".

Turkey announced in mid-April the launch of a new offensive against the PKK in Iraqi Kurdistan, in northern Iraq, which was described by Baghdad as a "threat to national security", given that the operations were not being coordinated.

The Turkish Army also recurrently conducts military operations against the PKK and its allies in northern Syria since the ceasefire between the government and the armed group was broken in July 2015.
