Last November, Quentin Tarantino attempted to join the world in the NFT craze that was dominating most of our lives. Whether you knew anything about them, the NFT trading trend was everywhere. Celebrities began to get in on the trend by auctioning off unique NFTs that mimicked some of their best films. Sylvester Stallone made some that portrayed him as Rocky and Judge Dredd. Tarantino also wanted to capitalize on the craze by releasing a line that featured Jules and Vincent from Pulp Fiction. Jules and Vince are portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta. However, though Tarantino owns the rights to the screenplay, Miramax owns the rights to the movie. This led to a lawsuit, that has now since been settled. Both parties agreed to move forward with their relationship and the selling of these NFTs.
The case between Miramax and Quentin Tarantino has been settled for an undisclosed amount and terms. We would assume that both parties agreed on a profit share when it comes to properties that showcase Pulp Fiction. We are not entirely sure if the NFT craze is still as prevalent in the world as it was before, but there is still a huge community. Tarantino is also a very respected director, and Pulp Fiction happens to be his most popular movie. Selling NFTs that resemble that movie in any way is sure to still be a draw.
Pulp Fiction was released in 1994 and became an instant hit. Quentin Tarantino had already established himself as a filmmaker with True Romance and Reservoir Dogs, but Pulp Fiction put the man on the map. The film was nominated for several Academy Awards including Best Director and Best Picture. The film also boosted the careers of both Uma Thurman and John Travolta. In fact, Travolta was said to have a failing career at that point, and though many warned Tarantino not to cast him, he did anyway. The result was Travolta laying down one of the best performances of his life.
The NFTs are based on Travolta's character Vincent, and his partner Jules. The pair are hitmen for a kingpin named Marsellus Wallace. Through the wild story of Pulp Fiction, we follow Vince and Jules as they attempt to recover a briefcase that was stolen by a group of men that were initially partnered with Wallace. Once that is achieved, both Vincent and Jules are involved in situations that include accidentally murdering someone, getting robbed at a cafe, and taking out the boss's wife when she overdoses on drugs. The result is a film that will go down in history as an important part of cinema. Quentin Tarantino was labeled as a genius filmmaker after it was released.
Now that Quentin Tarantino has settled his case with Miramax on the NFT selling, we would assume that the collection is going to be coming out sooner rather than later. Also, we would hope that Tarantino is also going to involve more characters other than Jules and Vincent. We would like to see Butch, Mia, Ringo, and Yolanda added to this collection as well.
