Kaide Gordon will be hoping he can win his fitness battle in a bid to face his old club Derby County in the League Cup third round because of a pelvis problem.
The former Rams teenager has been given his own tailored training programme as he continues his rehabilitation having not featured for the Reds since a Premier League 2 defeat against Leeds in February.
Liverpool are now monitoring him closely but have yet to issue a timeframe for his return but are keen not to rush him back. Gordon's absence had been a mystery, but it has now emerged that his pelvis injury is a result of his physical growth.

The 17-year-old travelled with Liverpool's first-team squad to Austria this summer but even though there was no prospect of him playing, he continued his rehabilitation and was part of team bonding exercises.
Highly-rated Gordon moved from Derby to sign for Liverpool in a deal that could be worth up to £3m in February 2021 and made his debut later that year in September. He then scored his first goal for Jurgen Klopp's first-team in January 2022 with a strike in an FA Cup win against Shrewsbury back in January.
He also started in the League Cup semi-final win over Arsenal and made his Premier League bow against Brentford as a late sub. Whether Gordon is fit to face the Rams when the two clubs clash in the Carabao Cup in November remains to be seen.
