10 Strangest Continuity Errors In Horror Movie History

This year's fall season looks set to feature some of the most diverse and interesting titles to be released in cinemas. This is especially true for horror movies as fans will be treated to Halloween Ends, Pearl, and Dark Harvest, all looking set to offer something different from the diverse filmmakers and stars.

But even the greatest horror movies of recent memory and in cinematic history can't always avoid errors that affect the film's continuity, creating some unnecessarily strange effects in the process. Among the greatest horror movies over the years, there have certainly been some strange continuity errors left in the final cut.

The anticipated sequel to 2017's smash hit IT, the 2nd installment saw The Loser's Club grown up and came together in an attempt to get rid of the ancient evil entity known as IT. In one of the movie's showdowns, Eddie gets attacked by former school bully Bowers, receiving a nasty slash on his left cheek in the process.

This error was noticed by eagle-eyed viewers and while it didn't break the movie for many, it was odd to see this seemingly magical bandage transport from one side of teh face to the other.

Not also one of Steven Spielberg's greatest movies of all time, but one of the best shark attack movies according to IMDb. After the beach goers of Amity Island gets attacked by a giant Great White Shark, Brody the police chief teams up with an oceanographer named Hooper and shark hunter Quinn to stop it before it hunts anyone else.

Throughout the movie, Hooper's frames transform into different styles without any explanation. While an explanation of him having a spare pair could have cleared this error up, it caused a major continuity issue in an otherwise near perfect summer flick.

Released back in 2014, Unfriended saw a group of high school friends chatting online, only to be joined by someone who has taken the name of their friend who committed suicide the year before. Told throughout Skype, the movie may have tried to tell the story from a fresh perspective, but it did bring up a massive continuity error.

Unaware of this, she retypes the message and while it could have been used as a plot point, it instead becomes nothing more than a major continuity error left in the final edit.

While fans can excitingly wait for the final showdown with Michael Myers and Laurie in one of the most anticipated horror releases this fall, newcomers might want to finally check out John Carpenter's classic. After being sent to an insane asylum as a child, he escapes as an adult and seeks to kill Laurie Strode to start his new killing spree.

While the movie is supposed to be set in Illinois, the filming took place in California which proved to be difficult for the young filmmaker to mask. Palm trees and cars with Californian license plates can be seen throughout the movie and while those outside of the states won't be impacted too much, residents might not help but notice.

Written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by Robert Rodriguez, the movie follows the Gecko brothers as they try to escape to Mexico, only to get themselves trapped in a saloon filled with vampires. But despite these beastly creatures of the night, this is not the only mythical force in play.

Throughout the entirety of the movie, George Clooney's tattoo changes positions on his neck and even changes designs at times altogether. With streaming and DVDs readily available, it's hard not to stop and admire this strange break in continuity in an otherwise fun flick for both Rodriguez and Tarantino fans.

The 2001 horror movie attempted to introduce a new kind of monster that could rival and perhaps reinvent classic horror movie monsters as a brother and sister come across a mysterious figure hiding bodies down sewer pipes. During their early encounters with this monstrous entity, they try to avoid it on the road as their car clashes with theirs.

But this scene quickly shows the car recovering the damage it received on its rear with not a scratch insight from its previous ramming by the monster's truck. While it does later reveal to be wrecked by the end of the scene, it was, unfortunately, let down by the choice of shots used in the edit that made it one of its biggest errors in the series that has spawned since then.

Before they appeared in hit movies like Bridget Jones' Diary and The Wolf of Wall Street, Renée Zellweger and Matthew McConaughey starred in the 4th entry in the series that saw Leatherface's family return to strike fear in a new generation of victims in one of the lowest scored movies by IMDb's ranking. One of those was Zellweger's Jenny, who manages to escape the deranged family on her prom night.

Jumping over the bonnet of a car, fans can see the kneepads protecting the actress' knees for this minor stunt. Despite the long dress trying to cover this up, the initial jump and scuffle showed just a bit too much of the protective gear that somehow still remained in the initial edit.

Not to be confused with the 2015 movie of the same name, the 2000 movie starred Cate Blanchett as a clairvoyant who receives visions that could help her solve a murder mystery in her town. But near the end of the movie, she performs one trick that just can't be explained.

Before she enters her son's room, she is wearing a striped dress, but after she enters the doorframe, she is wearing a floral dress instead. Blanchett's character couldn't have predicted that major continuity mistake and apart from cutting the scene out altogether, this was presumably the next best thing from the filmmakers.

Released near the end of the 1990s, The Faculty saw six students discover their teachers have been replaced with shapeshifting aliens. It featured many fun confrontations between the youth and the adults, but one of them remains very bewildering, especially by its conclusion.

Mr. Furlong manages to push Zeke hard enough into a fish tank for it to break and leave the poor student drenched. But he emerges dry and while it could have been a clever ploy from an initial viewing that he could be an alien, this wasn't the case and instead remains one of the biggest mistakes left in movies at the time.

One of Ridley Scott's greatest masterpieces and one of the best sci-fi horror movies to ever be released, Alien had plenty of scares from it's terrifying Xenomorph and turning the safety of the spaceship into a deathtrap. But it also had a big continuity error that couldn't be changed.

As the creature wraps its tail around Lambert's leg, the floor changes completely as well as the color of her trousers. This one shot was originally intended for another character, but in order to create the suspense, it was used for poor Lambert instead that some may not be able to look past after this discovery.
