King Charles III has received this Thursday at Buckingham Palace the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Liz Truss, in the first meeting between the two since the death of Elizabeth II on Thursday and her firstborn assumed the crown.
Truss, who received on Tuesday from the hands of the late queen the task of forming a government, has been seen for about half an hour with the successor, according to the BBC.
The Royal Household has released images of the moment in which the two meet, something rare in this type of offices. After an initial handshake, the king promises Truss "not to take up too much of his time".
The monarch is "very touched" by the public affection felt at the gates of Buckingham Palace and says he will try to "keep things flowing" in the informal meeting before he invites Truss to sit down.
Elizabeth II used to hold a weekly meeting with prime ministers. During her 70-year reign she saw 15 different people pass through Downing Street.
