It remains to be seen if this weekend's EFL fixtures are fulfilled, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

But the expectation is that Coventry City 's home game with West Bromwich Albion, along with the rest of the Championship games pencilled in for this coming weekend, will be postponed as a mark of respect. This morning's scheduled pre-match press conference with Mark Robins has been cancelled.

The EFL have already announced that today's fixtures will be postponed, saying: "As a mark of respect, following the passing of Her Majesty, The Queen Elizabeth II, the EFL has confirmed that its fixtures scheduled for Friday evening have been postponed."

Tonight's match between Burnley and Norwich City is off, along with the League Two clash between Tranmere Rovers and Stockport County and games in the Scottish Championship and Irish Premiership. Reports have suggested there is even the possibility that the following week's and even next weekend's games - where the Sky Blues are scheduled to travel to Luton Town on Wednesday and Birmingham City on Saturday - could be shelved as the nation continues to comes to terms with the passing of its longest-ever serving monarch.

If that is the case, it means Mark Robins' men would next return to action in almost a month's time, as the weekend of September 23 and 24 is a planned international break. That return to action comes in the form of a CBS Arena clash with Middlesbrough on Saturday, October 1.

It all adds up to a potentially hectic October and November for City who have already been forced to squeeze in three postponed fixtures against Rotherham United, Wigan Athletic and Huddersfield Town due to the club's pitch problems at their home stadium. Add in the first-ever winter World Cup, which begins on November 20, and there is a huge glut of fixtures to try and shoehorn in before then.

City have rearranged their home games against Wigan (Tues, Nov 8) and Huddersfield (Tues, Jan 24) but have yet to find a slot for the Rotherham fixture, which is likely to be slotted into an already hectic October which already has five Saturday games and two midweek matches on the list.

That leaves no wiggle room for the aforementioned games that may well need to be re-arranged, although the league matches do not need to be played before the World Cup.

At present November sees City playing four games and once again there is no space in the schedule to squeeze more games in, given they play their final Championship game before the World Cup-enforced hiatus begins on November 12.
