A home owned by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on her Sandringham Estate is now available for rent on Airbnb.
The Garden House, formerly the Queen's head gardener's home, is the closest estate property to Sandringham House, the beloved country retreat of the royal family - located in the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Sandringham House is one of the most historic properties in the United Kingdom - and one of the world's best homes.
Sandringham House, which was built for Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, has played a part in royal history for over a century. King George VI died in Sandringham on 6 February 1952 before passing the estate to his daughter, Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen spends around two months each winter on the Sandringham Estate, and it served as the backdrop broadcast of her first televised Christmas message in 1957.
The Garden House, which is now taking reservations on Airbnb, shares the estate with the historic, neighboring property. The listing is a trove of regal garden ideas - from its manicured lawn to the idyllic ivy surrounding the blue-painted front door.
The home is a celebration of the Great British countryside and the beautiful gardens that sit in the esteemed estate (as you might expect from the Queen's head gardener's home). And while the home's grounds are perhaps its most magnificent asset, its decorating ideas also pay homage to the property's rural surroundings.
Furnished eclectically from the Royal Collection, all the furniture and artworks were once housed in a royal residence. This is perhaps most evident in the dining room (as seen above), which exhibits a masterclass in decorating with antiques.
