Burnley manager Vincent Kompany believes Norwich City are "well-equipped" for a Championship promotion push.

On Friday night, the former Manchester City captain will welcome to Turf Moor a Canaries side who have won their last five league games.

After a slow start, with Norwich failing to pick up a win in their first three games, Dean Smith's side have soared up the table to second place after consecutive wins against Huddersfield (2-1), Millwall (2-0), Sunderland (1-0), Birmingham (2-1) and Coventry (3-0).

"They have got momentum," conceded Kompany. "I feel we are in a phase where, at home as well, we don't want to concede anything to anyone, we want to go and try and win this game. There is a degree of tactics that involves us watching and paying attention to what they do, but there is also a degree of self-confidence that we want to be able to show on the day."

Kompany has enjoyed a decent start as Burnley boss with just one defeat in eight games. The Clarets are also on an impressive five-game unbeaten run but dropped points against Blackpool and West Bromwich Albion after conceding late goals.

The City legend is also mindful of Norwich City's attacking threat. Prolific Championship goalscorer Teemu Pukki got off the mark against Coventry on Saturday and PFA Fans' Player of the Month nominee Josh Sargent has netted five goals in as many games.

"We've faced very different types of opposition. West Brom was different than Millwall and Wigan, and Huddersfield was different too. Watford was a completely different challenge. Every time the games were either good for us or close," said Kompany.

"Against Norwich, I have no doubt, it's a team who has built a really good model of going back up, if they can, and come down not being exposed to too many players leaving. In that sense, they are a team with a lot of cohesion and as good a challenge as it gets.

"Lots of goal threats up front. I mean, as much as I can say we've got goal threats, they [Norwich] are up there. They are incredibly well equipped for this league."
