One of many fun fall activities is going to a pumpkin patch. Frederick County and the surrounding areas have some of the best pumpkin patches in Maryland.

Not only do most of these pumpkin patches have pick-your-own pumpkin fields, but they also have other fun family activities.

Each farm is a little bit different so be sure to check out the details about each one and decide which would be best for your family to visit during pumpkin season.

The farms in this area know how to create an experience. Not only are they fun pumpkin patches many of them also have other fun fall activities.

Many of the farms have a general store or farm market where you can purchase fall decorations, farm fresh produce, and baked goods (think pumpkin pie, cider donuts, and more).

Before visiting these pumpkin patches be sure to check their websites and social media pages for upcoming events and last minute updates on hours of operation and weather conditions.

These pumpkin patches are located in Frederick County within a few miles of the city of Frederick. Summers Farm and Gaver Farm are popular with field trips during the fall season.

Summers Farm opened in 1996 in Frederick Maryland to allow families to experience "life on the farm". In 2022 Summers farm opened in its new location in Middletown Maryland just a few minutes away from the original festival site.

Summers Farm opens at the end of August for the Sunflower Festival and in September for their Fall Festival.

Enjoy over 45 attractions at the Summers Farm adventure including giant slides, farm animals, zip lines, corn pits, wagon rides, a huge corn maze, and more. On weekends you can enjoy fireworks and even rent a campfire for a large group if you would like.

Summers Farm corn maze is one of the largest corn mazes in the united states.

Fresh food stands at the farm have everything from pizza and burgers to funnel cakes and apple cider donuts.

Brookfield Pumpkins is located in Thurmont Maryland just a few miles north of Frederick. With acres of pumpkins to choose from good luck picking the perfect one. Along with getting a pumpkin from the 15-acre pumpkin patch, you can enjoy the corn maze. All proceeds from the corn maze are donated to charity.

Gaver Farm in Mount Airy is open from August to December each year. During the fall season, you can take a free hayride to pick your perfect pumpkin as well as apples and sunflowers.

The annual Fall Fun Fest has over 65 attractions including jumping pillows, mini mazes, duck races, playgrounds, and more included with your farm festival admission.

Located in Ijamsville Green Meadows Petting Farm April thru November on select days. Admission to the petting zoo includes over 200 animals, pig races, feeding the animals (feed included) firetruck slide, and more. You even get a free pumpkin from the pumpkin patch if you visit in October.

Jumbo's pumpkin patch in Middletown Maryland is open in September and October each fall. Along with a large pumpkin patch for pumpkin picking, you can also enjoy a petting zoo, jumping pillow, and 20-acre corn maze perfect for the whole family.

Pony rides, face painting, and corn cannon are open on select dates for an additional fee.

The name makes it sound like a Christmas tree farm but Myne's Tree Farm is more than a place to get Christmas trees.

Mayne's Tree Farm Pumpkin Patch is open daily for the month of October. You will find pumpkins of all sizes along with some fun fall activities. Fun activities include hayrides to the patch, corn maze, apple cider, straw jumping, and more.

2021 was the last season for Winterbrook Farms before it was sold. The farm has new owners and is opening as Magnolia Meadow Farms in 2022.

Located in Thurmont Maryland Magnolia Meadow Farms is the newest farm on our list opening in 2022. This farm is a real working farm that not only has pumpkins, gourds, sunflowers, and cut flowers but also 150+ acres of hay, corn, and soybeans.

Though these pumpkin patches and farms aren't located in Frederick County they are only a short drive away making them perfect for a day trip.

Baugher's Orchard in Westminster is a pick-your-own farm that is open not only for the fall season but also during the summer for u-pick strawberries, cherries, peaches, and more.

In the fall visit the Orchard and Farm on weekends in October to pick your own pumpkin. Take a wagon ride to the pumpkin fields as well as the apple orchards.

Located in Germantown Butler's Orchard is open for the you-pick season and has festivals and special events throughout the season. In the fall you can enjoy the pumpkin festival.

Visit Homestead Farm in Poolesville to pick your own pumpkins from the pumpkin patch. You can visit to pick other farm-fresh produce throughout the summer season.

Located in Woodbine Maryland Larriland Farm is a popular farm to visit for those living in the D.C. area. It's a day trip from D.C and has a lot to offer.

The season at Larriland Farm starts with strawberries in late May and continues through the fall. We have gone apple picking at Larriland Farm in the past and the kids really enjoyed it.

If you go to the farm for the pumpkin patch you can also do a hayride (sitting on straw bales) to the patch to pick a pumpkin. While you're there be sure to take a walk through the straw maze.
