Reading FC boss Paul Ince has been sent a stern warning about Watford's Aston Villa loanee Keinan Davis ahead of this weekend's Championship game.

The 24-year-old is on a season-long loan deal at Vicarage Road from Steven Gerrard's side and is hoping to make a big impression having helped Nottingham Forest to promotion - also on loan - last year.

Davis has featured in two games for the Hornets so far, coming off the bench in both, with his most recent outing coming last Saturday for the final 25 minutes of the 1-1 draw at Rotherham United.

Rob Edwards' side host Royals on Saturday (3pm kick-off) and with Ince's side shipping four goals in two of their away games already this season, they have been warned by Davis' teammate at Watford, Kortney Hause, about the threat Davis poses.

"I've played with him for a few years now and in training, at Aston Villa, he was the hardest striker I've ever trained against," Hause, who is also on loan at Watford from Aston Villa, said about Davis. "He's an animal and he's got it all. He's not just a goal scorer, but he can drop deep, he can pick the ball up and he can take the ball past three or four players.

"He's top, top drawer and he's still young and he's got a big future ahead of him as well, and I'm sure he wants to pick up from where he left off with his form last season at Nottingham Forest. Speaking to him and being around him - I'm quite close to him - he's hungry and he's desperate to perform for Watford. Watford have done really, really well getting him signed up."

Davis is far from the only threat posed to Reading by Watford, with fellow forwards Ismaila Sarr, Joao Pedro, and Vakoun Bayo all having impacts for the side in the opening month of the season. Both Sarr and Pedro have two goals and two assists to their name, while Bayo has also scored twice.

The Hertfordshire side go into the fixture in sixth position in the league table, having won three and drawn four of their first eight matches. They have 13 points to their name and are two points and three places behind Royals. Edwards' side have hit some stuttering form in recent weeks, though, and have won just one of their previous five matches. They also exited the Carabao Cup with a 2-0 defeat at home to League One side MK Dons.

BerkshireLive will have full coverage of Watford vs Reading at Vicarage Road. Our build-up starts at 1pm and kick-off is at 3pm on Saturday afternoon.
