WWE has announced that Giovanni Vinci is now officially a part of the main roster, just days after making his appearance at Clash at the Castle alongside former Imperium faction-mates Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser. The reunion of the group is now more than just a one-off as WWE.com has Vinci officially listed on the SmackDown roster page and wrote in their bio for the WWE Superstar, "Style and class personified, Giovanni Vinci has arrived to bring a new level of sophistication to SmackDown."
This is an interesting development as it appears he'll rejoin Imperium on a permanent basis. The site also writes, "Vinci is set to bring a new level of sophistication to the blue brand alongside Imperium cohorts Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser." Intriguingly, he's also being listed as "The Italian Superstar", which is not exactly where the members of Imperium are known to hail from. Time will tell if Vinci gets his old moniker Fabian Aichner back. For now, it doesn't appear that way.
His appearance at Clash at the Castle all but confirmed he's back with the group and WWE may simply choose to overlook his gimmick change in NXT and act as though nothing is different since he was split from a group a few months ago.
WWE is starting to heavily push factions such as Judgment Day, Damage CNTRL, Imperium, Brawling Brutes and others are getting significant pushes on WWE programming. Unlike Vince before him, this new WWE seems to like the idea that groups of stars can dominate a show or a division and it's likely that more and more groups will be forming under his creative watch. Imperium was among the most devastating trios in NXT and with Gunther leading the charge, should be a force to reckon with on the SmackDown brand.
This reunion probably also brings an end to the teases that there might be friction between Gunther and Kaiser, who the Intercontinental Champion wasn't showing a lot of love to in recent weeks.
