Harry Styles' spit has entered the chat.
While all eyes were on Florence Pugh and Olivia Wilde to see if their alleged feud would turn into an all out brawl on the red carpet at the world premiere of Don't Worry Darling, it seems our attention should've been on a seemingly innocuous interaction between the male leads, Harry Styles and Chris Pine.
In case you missed it, the internet is rife with speculation that bona fide pop star, Harry Styles, spat on silver fox and decorated actor Chris Pine.
No, this isn't a fever dream or a even a marketing ploy for the upcoming thriller, people are actually convinced that Styles spat on Pine while taking his seat at the Palazzo del Cinema.
Let's get into it, shall we?
All seemed well as the genetically-blessed cast took their seats at the Don't Worry Darling advanced screening at the 79th Venice Film Festival.
Sure, the seating arrangement certainly looked like the work of a well-versed publicist who didn't want to pander to the tabloid fodder of an alleged feud-or as Twitter put it, "whoever made this seating arrangement has planned a wedding with divorced parents".
However, the tone certainly changed as Styles' took his seat next to Pine. In a video, which you can watch for yourself below, fans are claiming that Styles appears to spit on Pine.
As Harry descends into his seat, he apparently looks to lean over Pine.
You can see the 42-year-old actor stop dead in his tracks-his devilish smile fades as he looks down at his pants to inspect what many are claiming to be Styles' spit.
In the video, Don't Worry Darling director Olivia Wilde even takes a moment to glance at Pine's pants to see what all the commotion is about.
Obviously the entire situation is absurd, but given the level of controversy and contention that has followed Don't Worry Darling's press tour it almost feels like we're living in a simulation of a maniacal, omnipresent power who only wants to see those attached to the film suffer.
But naturally, as curious minds and fans of Harry Styles, we simply must know if the 28-year-old star did in fact expectorate on his co-star.
As it turns out, Styles was more than willing to swap saliva with his co-stars. After the screening, Style locked lips with comedian Nick Kroll, who also stars in the film. Oh to be a fly on that wall.
Spit-gate came after a chaotic press tour, where by Styles described the film a "a real go to the theatre film movie"-thank god he's a musician and not, you know an orator-and Chris Pine appeared to 'disassociate' the entire time.
Neither Pine or Styles are yet to comment on the spitting controversy, and at this point in time we're filing it as one of the many batshit things we'll never know about Don't Worry Darling.
Sorry Olivia, but we're worried. Really worried.
