Good Morning Britain's viewers were surprised to see former MP Edwina Currie on the show talking about the energy crisis, with a life-size cardboard cut out of Boris Johnson behind her. The former politician appeared on the show to discuss her tweets to money expert Martin Lewis in which she asks him to not call the crisis a 'catastrophe'.

However, viewers were understandably distracted by the face of our outgoing Prime Minister. Susanna addressed the elephant in the room and asked: "Do you have a cardboard cut out of Boris Johnson in your home."

Edwina coyly responded: "No he's on his way up to Balmoral." Susanna wasn't going to let it pass though and asked again: "Sorry are you at home with a life-size cardboard cut out of the Prime Minister?"

Edwina then explained that she had a fundraiser party a month or two ago and he "insisted on attending". Martin Lewis quipped: "And listen, at least he's staying there so he's got a role somewhere - delighted to see it."

Viewers were just as shocked as the ITV presenters with many taking to social media to express their confusion. Rylan said: "Edwina currie is doing an interview on good morning Britain with a life size boris cutout in her kitchen.. It's gonna be a GOOD week."

One viewer tweeted: "Edwina Currie is seriously sat there with a Boris cardboard cutout in the background?! She is seriously deranged." Another said: "Edwina Currie and a cutout of Boris Johnson. Please tell me I'm dreaming #GMB."

"Hold up, Edwina just said her bills are high and she thinks it isn't a catastrophe. She is so out of touch. She's even got a cardboard cutout of Boris. I can't take her seriously", said one viewer. Another added: "Energy saving tips from Edwina Curry, with a cardboard cut out of Boris Johnson stood behind her. What a Monday morning."

While many were confused about the cutout, others were just as concerned about the advice she was offering to tackle the crisis. Edwina had urged people to "not get emotional" about the energy crisis, and instead told people to follow common sense.
