Spider-Man: No Way Home has reclaimed the top spot at the box office for North America, surpassing Paramount's Top Gun: Maverick.

According to Variety, No Way Home managed to draw in audiences again after a re-release of the Marvel Studios/Sony Pictures film just in time for Labor Day weekend. Sony released a newer version of the film called The More Fun Stuff Version, which includes 11 minutes of never-before-seen footage, across 3,935 theaters in North America. This re-release of No Way Hom has drawn in $6 million, with an additional $1.6 million expected by the end of the four-day holiday weekend.

Based on these numbers, No Way Home managed to overtake the Labor Day weekend box office for Top Gun: Maverick, which itself is poised to surpass the $700 million mark this weekend. Comparatively, Maverick has made $5.5 million so far between Friday and Sunday and is expected to pull $7 million in total by Monday. This puts the sequel just behind the Labor Day weekend earnings for No Way Home.

Despite this, the Tom Cruise-fronted flying epic is expected to overhaul the total achieved by Marvel Studios' Black Panther (2018) and place the movie among the top five highest-grossing domestic releases of all time. Maverick would join the ranks of Avatar ($760 million), Spider-Man: No Way Home ($804 million), Avengers: Endgame ($853 million) and Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($936 million).

Spider-Man: No Way Home - The More Fun Stuff Version was announced in June and was intended to only appear in theaters across the US and Canada. The More Fun Stuff Version features a deleted scene with Tom Holland's brother and some notable asides related to his time as Peter Parker, rather than the titular superhero. The extended version's release also marks several significant milestones for Spider-Man, including sixty years since his first appearance in comics and twenty since Tobey Maguire became the first actor to play him on the big screen, under the direction of Sam Raimi.

When it was initially released in theaters in December 2021, No Way Home was the first movie to go past the magic $1 billion milestone since the start of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic following an enormous opening weekend of $587.2 million worldwide. It was the Marvel Cinematic Universe's third solo Spider-Man film and opened the way for crossovers with earlier Sony properties fronted by Maguire and Andrew Garfield. It also saw the return of several memorable antagonists from other franchises, including Alfred Molina, Willem Dafoe and Jamie Foxx.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD. The Blu-ray, in particular, is notable for its nearly 100 minutes of extra content, with deleted scenes, featurettes, Easter Eggs and panel discussions with the cast.
