In a brand-new preview for Batman #127 by DC Comics, Bruce Wayne tells Kal-El that he didn't regret having files showing how to beat the Justice League, but that he didn't keep them secure enough, as they fell into the wrong hands.

In the Justice League of America story JLA: Tower of Babel by Mark Waid and Howard Porter, it was revealed that Batman had contingency plans on how to defeat the superteam with detailed files showing how to exploit their greatest weaknesses. Unfortunately, those plans fell into the wrong hands, as Ra's al Ghul used them to take down the world's greatest heroes. Ultimately, the conflict led to Batman getting voted out of the Justice League. In a new Batman story, the Caped Crusader is admitting his biggest mistake with the files, but it isn't that he created them in the first place; it's that he didn't keep them more secure.

In a brand-new preview of Batman #127 by Chip Zdarsky, Jorge Jimenez, Tomeu Morey, and Clayton Cowles, the story flashes back to right after Batman was voted out of the Justice League after his contingency files nearly led to their defeat. Batman is confronted by Superman in the Batcave, with the Man of Steel asking if he knew he would get voted off the team. Batman tells him he can't work with people who don't want him around when their lives are on the line, leading Superman to remind him one of the Justice League heroes could have died thanks to his actions. Kal-El asks to speak to Bruce Wayne, not Batman, and when The Dark Knight takes off his cowl, he admits his biggest mistake was not keeping the files more secure.

Superman is lied to by Batman as he tells him the Justice League are who will take him down in the contingency plan. The flashback conversation hints at why Batman created Failsafe, a new villain who was designed to take the hero down should he ever break bad. The solicitation for Batman #127 hints that Failsafe will try to kill Batman in a final attack.

With brutal efficiency, Failsafe hunts the Dark Knight, leaving a trail of injured heroes! Batman retreats to the manor as he prepares for a final assault...will the last few surprises he has in store be enough? And in the backup, Catwoman reaches a shocking conclusion in her search!

Batman admitting that his biggest mistake when it came to the contingency plans to stop the Justice League wasn't that he created them in the first place, but that they weren't kept secure enough shows why he was voted off the team. Batman lost the trust of the Justice League as he created plans for how to defeat his closest allies without fully thinking about what would happen if they fell into the wrong hands. Thankfully, his relationship with the Justice League would eventually recover. Batman #127 is in comic book stores on Tuesday.
